On this special evening for the general public, more than 30 cultural institutions in The Hague open their doors from 8 PM to 1 AM. In the framework of ‘fire and flames’ extra activities are organised in all museums. Throughout the whole city there are events and exhibitions to visit. West Museumkwartier is part of this programme.

West shows the work of Emory Douglas, one of the founders and Minister of Culture, of 'Black Panther Party'. Douglas created iconic images of the African-American struggle in the sixties and seventies. He developed his own graphic style that remains very recognisable: a combination of raw and expressive drawings. The exhibition shows posters and newspapers with provocative images of the armed revolution and documentation. The photographs by journalist Stephen Shames show the history of the party and how it developed its mission. An exhibition about the very influential Afro-American that used the slogan 'All power to the People!

Crank up the volume and get the party started!
You can enjoy the exhibition and music all evening long. Dancing is allowed! The playlist as a work of art, with sounds from the seventies until yesterday. Grainy and rough. With DJ's spinning the latest rap, flaming soul, cool jazz, fiery funk & music from the front lines of the Black Revolution.
